What is the designer's background and credentials? Why should I trust Bella Carta Studio to design my invitations or announcements?

Lisa Frey, the lead designer at Bella Carta Studio, has an undergraduate degree in advertising with a concentration in graphic design. Changing directions, she completed two graduate degrees in interior design and taught at a large university. While she was then working 3-dimensionally, she had the opportunity to help students understand presentation and graphic layout. After getting married and designing her own wedding stationery, as well as the myriad other paper products produced for a wedding (programs, escort and place cards and table numbers, for example), she decided to go back to her roots and foster her love of beautiful paper products and stationery; Bella Carta Studio was born!

Lisa's years in academia, as well as her own drive for perfection, ensures that every piece designed by Bella Carta Studio is well-designed, following the elements and principles of design, uses beautiful paper, fabric or other materials in a unique and creative manner, and is impeccably constructed.

At Bella Carta Studio our primary goal is to provide beautiful invitations and announcements that will make you, the bride, parent, business owner, or party giver, beam with pride every time someone opens what you've sent! They're like receiving a gift in the mail!

What printing processes are used?

We have expanded our printing options at Bella Carta Studio to include thermography (raised printing), letterpress (oldest printing technique where a plate is pressed into the paper), engraving (also raised printing, but the traditional, formal process that you can see slightly from the back), and flat printing.

Some pieces, especially wedding day pieces, are also printed in-house on a Ricoh professional-quality printer. Take a look at our Printing Techniques page to see a full description of these printing results.

When should I start the design process with Bella Carta?

It is important that we have plenty of time for the design process so that we can find the perfect solution for your stationery needs. For weddings, this usually means starting the process at least 8 weeks before the invitations need to be sent out (which is 6-8 weeks before the wedding). We actually prefer starting the design process 6 months before the wedding date so there isn't any need for rush orders and you're assured that we have the time to complete your stationery requests. For other types of stationery, a shorter process is possible and depends on the project.

It is best to contact Bella Carta Studio to begin the design process as soon as you know that you want to work with us.

Rush orders are possible if the designers' time permits, although additional charges may apply. Contact us to ask!

I like Bella Carta Studio's style, but I don't see exactly what I want. Can you design something special for me?

Bella Carta Studio is a custom design studio. If you like our style, we'd love to work with you to create the perfect stationery or promotional items for your event! See a sampling of some of the papers we have in our studio on our Paper Options page, and please contact us to begin the process.

I noticed that you are listed on the Envelopments website as a dealer. Can I order my Envelopments from you without hiring Bella Carta Studio for design services?

Absolutely! Contact us for prices!

What other manufacturers do you carry and work with?

Well, there are many, but in addition to Envelopments, we are retailers for Midori Ribbon, Waste Not Paper (the wholesale division of Paper Source), Marsupials, Hanah Hand-Dyed Silk Ribbon, SoHo Papers, and Black Ink/Wyndstone Papers. If you have questions about any of these manufacturers or wish to place an order, please don't hesitate to ask us!

How does your payment process work?

To begin the design process, a nonrefundable design fee is required.  Following the client's approval of the final design, 50% of the invitation purchase price is due. The remainder of the invitation purchase price is due before the invitations are shipped to you or your guests.  Because Bella Carta Studio invitations are custom products, the design fee and any payments made toward purchase of invitations are not refundable.

Should I order extra invitations beyond those necessary for my guest list?

Yes, absolutely! We recommend that you order at least 10% more than you think you'll need. You may want some for your own scrapbook, or maybe you'll realize that you'd like to add some additional guests beyond the current list. If following the shipment of your original order additional invitations are requested, subsequent shipments of fewer than 50 invitations may require a higher per item charge.

I would like to see a sample of your work. Are samples available?

Of course! We'd love to send you a sample so you can see, in person, the beauty of our work! Envelopments samples cost $15 for 1 sample or $25 for several; boxed invitations are $20 for 1 sample, $30 for two. The full amount of your samples will be deducted from your final bill if you choose to order from Bella Carta Studio.

What is the price range of your invitations and announcements?

Since Bella Carta Studio is a custom invitation and announcement studio, prices can fluctuate considerably depending on the level of detail and amount of custom work. Some of our pieces, especially the holiday greetings, start around $3 a piece. Other pieces may cost up to $75 a piece. Most wedding invitations cost between $13-$19 each, and boxed invitations start around $16 each. Also, please note that our minimum wedding invitation project is $1000. If you plan to order fewer than 75 invitations, please know that your price per piece may be higher than the range listed above. Also note, postage is not included in our price quote because we charge exact USPS or Photostamps pricing.

Who addresses and mails the invitations or announcements?

Really, it depends on the situation. All boxed invitations and announcements are addressed by us, as we need to seal the invitations and print the box labels. It is therefore most cost-effective for us to send them directly to your guests rather than you paying to have the finished invitations sent to you and then mailed out. Other invitations and announcements can be addressed and sent by us, or addressed and sent by you. Please note that clients pay for all postage, whether we're sending them to you or your guests.

Are other fonts beyond the ones I see on the samples available?

Oh, yes--we have so many fonts from which to choose! To make a choice, we look at the different qualities of the particular project and decide on fonts that best fit the mood, concept and feeling to be conveyed. When working on your design, we send you different options and you choose what you like best!
